Commercial Garage Door

A commercial garage door is commonly made of glass, wooden and aluminum overhead parts.

If you are looking to set up a new garage or fix up a preexisting garage in your home, then one area you may be focused on improving is the garage door.   In general the shape and structure of commercial or industrial garage doors is the same as one you would find in a residence, however they are often slightly larger in size.  This can be useful for a bigger sized garage or storefront space that needs an area for cars to be able to pull in.

There are essentially three different types available for the commercial garage door.  For a company or back of store, one of the most popular types of doors is the rolling style of door.  These doors are most commonly metal in color and have horizontal panels all the way up and down.  They usually are opened via manual pushing and retract into the top of the garage.  This type of commercial garage door requires its fair share of maintenance, as dents to the panels are common and must be properly dealt with in order to ensure a smooth opening and closing.  The most popular type of residential and commercial garage door has overhead sectional units, which fold into the top of the garage structure as it is opened.  Most homes choose to go with this model.  The final option is more common in areas like warehouses and it is the sliding commercial garage door.  This type of structure is easy to open, as it just slides left or right.  This is not an option for the common consumer, however.

When choosing the right commercial garage door for your home, one of the most important accessories that you will most likely have to purchase is a garage door opener.  Long gone are the days of the manual garage door; it requires too much manual labor in the common society to have to lift the garage open every time you need to enter it.  Simply put, it is much more efficient to have a garage door opener that will allow you to enter the garage at the click of a button.  When people install their commercial garage door with a garage door opener set up, they commonly choose to get a receiver as well.  A garage door receiver is most often placed in the car of the homeowner and allows you to press a button as you near the garage door, which will subsequently open the garage as you come home.  Think of it as your own personal drawbridge welcoming your car back into the castle after a long day of work.  Of course, if you want to close the garage door after pulling out in the morning, a receiver enables you to do that as well.

These days, it is highly recommended that whichever type of commercial garage door you decide to purchase, you consider a model that has a built in motion sensor or is compatible with an external motion sensor.  The primary reason for this is a safety concern.  Too many accidents take place involving children or animals getting caught under a garage door.  Prevent this by having a safe motion sensor system set up that will stop the commercial garage door from opening or closing as soon as something crosses its path.
